Music
My music style stems from many different genres of music and therefore opened me up to literal generations of music. People seem to miss the roots of the music they listen to and miss the the thing that created the style they like. My music is a conglomeration of many different styles as you will see below.
![]() Classical As I said my music reaches through generations and beethoven is one of the most classic and influential musicians of all time. ![]() Thrash Metallica is a perfect example of a thrash band with quick guitaring and loud fast angry singing. Metallica has made headlines constantly through the ages and in their prime were one of the most driving bands in thrash. ![]() Classic Rock This is one of the first genres to get me into music in general and the band above is exactly the band that did it. I was introduced to queen in early high school when my dad played it on the cd player. I was instantly in love with the whole lifestyle and idea of classic rock and indulged in every aspect relating to the genre. ![]() Oldies Frank Sinatra was the man back in the day and was at the top of the charts for a very long time basically "That's Life" is a ballad of mine. Sinatra and the whole rat pack which included Sammy Davis Jr., Dean Martin, Peter Lawford, Joey Bishop and of course Sinatra are my favourite oldies artists. The nostalgia alone sells me on the genre. ![]() Rap Now I only include this because like I said my heart goes out to canadian talent and Shad K. kicks raps ass. Taking ques from the good old school days and mixing in lyrics ranging from songs about saving money to saving music to saving people. Shad just has amazing views on things and a different sound then your used to hearing, love it the most amount. Then of course some other great rap artists out there including Run DMC, Biggie Smalls, The Streets but overall not a huge fan of rap sorry :( | ![]() Punk I got into punk after listening to one of my below bands sublime. The first band I got into was a hardcore band headed by Henry Rollins. With their angst and short driving songs they were an aggressive force in the punk scene. ![]() Rock I am a sucker for rock in general and then you get to hometown rock and it hits a certain heart string. The headstone headed by now actor Hugh Dillon is one of those bands with their dark, satyrical songs they have some serious canadian cred. Other Canadian artists I love include The Tragically Hip, Our Lady Peace, and Alexisonfire. ![]() Ska This is my favourite band in this genre, sublime isnt totally ska but has very strong influences from ska along with dub, punk and rock very eclectic and amazing. Sublime itself is a very happy, upbeat band and makes me feel the same way every time I listen to it. ![]() Alternative Alternative is great because you never really know what your going to expect and the pumpkins music reflects exactly this. Listen to lead singer Billy Corgans cover of Number Of The Beast and you will know exactly what i'm talking about. |
